Jolie’s practice focuses on estate planning and family wealth transfer planning, advising high wealth individuals and families with income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax matters, succession planning for closely-held businesses, and charitable planning, as well as on estate and trust administration matters.
Jolie’s experience includes preparing complex tax-driven wills, grantor retained annuity trusts, charitable lead and remainder trusts, and life insurance trusts, and assisting clients with the formation and operation of family limited partnerships, guidance on compliance issues, and planning for the transfer of ownership and management to future generations. She also advises individual donors with implementing their charitable giving objectives, including the structuring of charitable gifts and bequests and preparation of gift agreements between the donor and the charitable donee.
In her estate administration practice, Jolie assists executors with the administration of large and complex estates, including guiding executors through the probate process and their fiduciary responsibilities, preparation and filing of federal estate tax returns, and funding of bequests.
Jolie also has significant experience working with nonprofit entities, and in particular, tax-exempt private foundations and supporting organizations, including the organization of charitable entities and obtaining tax-exempt status, and advising nonprofit organizations with respect to federal and state law compliance and governance issues, grant-making, and federal excise taxes.
